Seems to me they need to actually divide the entire festival up into films with a budget – a real budget – and people with no budget but, have a real ambition to make movies.

I’m tired of film festivals just parroting Sundance and trying to lure people in to see full budgeted films. I would like to see half of the festival be people – who don’t have money – get to show their stuff. The Atlanta Festival has turned into something that doesn’t really seek out true indie stuff. I’m NOT talking YouTube, I’m talking full features without $200K+ of money. I fully understand a festival has to recoup their costs and they want to attract big names but, just because you have a budget does not mean you have talent.
