Atlanta’s Seven Gifts to the World

So, if you read the site last week, you know that we participated in a Metroblog-wide event where each city posted about the Seven Gifts their city had given to the world. If you weren’t aware, you are now.

Either way, here’s a handy dandy summary post to keep you informed and arguing. Whether you like the list or hate it, we hope you’ll comment or blog about our inclusions and snubs.

  1. Margaret Mitchell’s Gone With The Wind
  2. Jimmy Carter
  3. CNN
  4. The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC)
  5. The Reverend Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr.
  6. Chick-Fil-A
  7. Coca-Cola

It’s a pretty good list, I think. Feel free to tell us otherwise, though.

I’m thinking Waffle House was a potential oversight. Any others?

Dr. Crawford Long certainly belongs on this list. He was the first physician to to have used an ether-based anesthesia during surgery. I think the world appreciates him for that.
