Georgia State to sell dorms built as Olympic Village

I see where Georgia State is going to sell the dorms that line the connector. (STORY) It’s the old Olympic Village built in 1996.

They are closer to Tech than State and maybe they should do a quick property swap. I’ve never been inside one of them so I don’t know what the layout is.

yeah…GSU should sell those towers to tech. not only are they closer to tech, but tech rents space from them in overflow years.

It would make sense for Tech to have them but I read an article in the AJC in the past month or so where Tech said they don’t want them, that it is more space than they need or want. So..who knows? Honestly for the longest time I thought they were Tech’s.

Actually, I think the real reason that Tech doesn’t want them is that there are some serious issues with the buildings. The contractor that built them did not install the foundation system properly and there are problems with settlement of the buildings.

Fo’ rizzle, Eric. Not just the foundation; can you go in there without finding dangling wires, miscellaneous holes in the walls, etc?

georgia state got them at a discount from the government, thats the only reason it bought them. They’re like 10 blocks from the actual campus and way closer to tech. I heard theyre sinking though, thats why tech wont buy them, but theyre still selling them out to someone whose gonna destroy them and rebuild condos. thats what i heard. ALSO gsu is building new dorms closer to campus and already has the lofts on campus
