Georgia Billionaires

Four Georgians are on Forbes top 400 list of the richest Americans this year:

17. Anne Cox Chambers – $12.6 billion
189. Bernard Marcus – $1.9 billion
297. Arthur M. Blank – $1.3 billion
Truett Cathy – $1.2 billion

Ted Turner also made the list, but since he’s not involved with the company he founded anymore, they list him as living in Florida. He was tied with Bernie Marcus.

It’s a good mix, though. Chik-Fil-A, Home Depot and Cox Communications (plus the unofficial Turner Broadcasting). A good showing for Georgia and Atlanta.

    Yeah that is so impressive!
Especially Marcus!! I hope he can get all poor people who ask for money arrested! Not just those in his “tourist triangle”!

Viva la billionaire! They care about us!

Ted Turner’s not listed as a Georgian because his legal residence has been Florida for some years now. It has nothing to do with his involvement (or lack thereof) in Time-Warner – which is based in New York.

Opps, my bad! Since he grew up the son of immi’gints I guess that means he’s best suited to finance support for laws curtailing free speech. “Aggressive” panhandling. Is that like “aggressive” telemarketing? Or spamming? No one gets arrested for that! Or how about “aggressive” stupidity? Like the GA Aquarium, where if you want to learn anything about the fish (aside from their color), you need to have an encyclopedia with you. Its the shock and awe approach to learnin’! Yay Bernie!
