Don’t Just Sit There – Do Something! (Preferably on a Bike)
I think we all remember the upsetting and disturbing news that broke on July 25th about a cyclist being attacked and murdered on the Silver Comet Trail.
That resident was Jenny Ewing, an avid cyclist who rode the Silver Comet Trail several days a week. Her tragic death was a blow to her family, friends and the extended cycling community, both in Atlanta and around the country.
She was raped and murdered by a convicted sex offender who had just been released from prison.
A memorial ride will be held in her honor on September 23rd on the Silver Comet Trail. If you are interested in participating, visit http://www.jennyewingmemorialride.com/ . The $20.00 Registration will be donated to the Jenny Ewing Memorial Ride Fund. All proceeds will go to both the Sandy Springs Mission and a Memorial to be erected on the trail in Jenny’s name.
There are three distance options for the event: 26, 11 or 6 miles. If you’re not able to ride, you can also help by volunteering with ride set up and clean up.
Lastly, t-shirts in her honor are available at http://www.teamestrogen.com/products.asp?pID=22150
