Spicy Chicken Sandwiches
I am a truly pious devotee of the chicken sandwiches at Chick-Fil-A.
My wife worked there as a high school student, we both ate their as college co-eds and now we raise our child on their food.
I live by the mantra that they may not have invented the chicken, but they did invent the chicken sandwich.
Heck, I’ve even eaten at the original Hapeville store.
But now, I fear for the worst. Chick-Fil-A has fallen behind the times in the heated (ha!) Spicy Chicken Sandwich war.
Sure, I could go to Wendy’s or Hardee’s or Burger King or McDonald’s and get some inferior chicken sandwich all spiced up, but I want the original. I want the peanut oil fueled goodness. I want a Spicy Chicken Sandwich from Chick-Fil-A, dammit!
I know to a lot of you this is blasphemy. Chick-Fil-A is an Atlanta institution when it comes to food. Akin to Coca-Cola, The Varsity or hashbrown casserole at your favorite “meat and 3”.
But Chick-Fil-A is behind the times in this regard.
Sure, they have healthier options and a smaller menu.
Sure, they sell Carrot Raisin Salad and Cole Slaw, two non-traditional fast food sides.
Yes, their tea and lemonade are unparelelled, but they aren’t infallible.
If Chick-Fil-A can start serving Milkshakes – which are truly excellent by the way – then they can cook up a Spicy Chicken Sandwich for me. It’s the least they could do.
What do you think? Should I stop complaining and go for a Hot Brown at an area Dwarf House? Should I venture more upscale at a Truett’s Grill? Or should I suggest a Spicy Chicken Sandwich to management.
Either way, I think I need to seek help. Is this kind of fervor for Chick-Fil-A normal?
Ah, who cares! Pass the waffle fries.
Check out Checker’s spicy chicken sandwich. 2 for a dollar, and open all night long.
Plus, if you go to the Checkers on 10th St around 2am, you’ll get a chance to see a pretty good mix of transvestite prostitutes, Georgia Tech students, and assorted homeless.
Fast food is something I’ve sworn off, but the brownies at Chick Fil A don’t meet my fast food criteria. Those things are just so yummy.
Well I might have some good news for you…Chick-fil-A is currently testing Spicy Chargrilled Sandwiches. I believe the test market is in Florida but not sure which area. THey tested Spicy nuggets and that failed so who knows.
Don’t they offer Buffalo sauce? My suggestion would be to pour that on the sandwhich. I think I’m going to try that.
