RE: VaHi Trees

Returning from a trip yesterday, I too noticed the missing VaHi trees. I checked around and was told that they were part of this project to create a “nice stroll from Amsterdam to Ponce on any side of the street in Virginia Highland. Now imagine that the sidewalk you’re on is perfectly smooth and pedestrian friendly: no cracks, no missing pavers, no sink holes.” Sounds nice, but if it is a choice between having a few cracks and having no trees, I’d pick the cracks.

According to commenter Patrick, the trees are going to be replanted. Let’s hope that’s true.

P.S. You’ll notice that the link above to the project page also has nifty instructions on getting your sidewalk repaired and, if you live in the VaHi area, getting it 50% reimbursed… not too bad…
