atlanta: then and now

love atlanta? feel like wasting a few minutes or hours this morning? have i got the site for you. the atlanta time machine is a collection of then and now pictures of intersections, houses, apartment buildings, churches, neighborhoods, really just about anything from around atlanta. what I love about this site is that it is obviously not built for commercial gain (one look at the ui will tell you that) but was obviously built by somebody who just have a love for the city, its history and its architecture.

my favorite is this shot of little five points. near and dear to my heart because i am frequent denizen of the brewhouse cafe during the english premier league season and the brewhouse sits just off to the right in this flick.

Excellent. One is a house 1/2 block from mine. It used to look quite swank with it’s stucco and shutters.

James – thanks for mentioning my site and encouraging people to check it out. What does ui stand for, though?? As in (from your post)

“what I love about this site is that it is obviously not built for commercial gain (one look at the ui will tell you that)…”

You’re right, of course, that the site is not a commercial one and it certainly lacks some of the snazzier attributes available to website designers far sharper than I am, but I was just wondering what “ui” stands for and what one can tell from looking at it. Throw some education my way!

Mostly I’ve just tried to build a site that I would find entertaining had somebody else done the legwork and research. In any case, glad you enjoyed it.

greg = ui – ‘user interface’ – check out wikipedia here.

i love your site and you hit the nail on the head. if you were trying to make a bunch of money you would have dressed the site up with a bunch of those snazzier attributes :-)

its a great site, don’t change a thing, just keep finding picture. a request though, some of the east atlanta villiage would be great.
