Cobb County Transit using MARTA Breeze cards

This is good news and is a nice step in having a truly regional transit system.

CCT riders will be able to transfer to MARTA by simply swiping the card. At least for now the transfers between the two systems will not have an additional cost. However, Cobb Transportation Director David Montanye said the new system will allow distance-based fares should the county decide to use it.

I know it’s a little premature to start talking about a really good Atlanta area transit, but I just can’t helpo thinking that this, along with the Beltway moving along, is a good start.

True, pales in comparison to the idea of trains actually running into Cobb County, but I guess it’s a start.

I know it’s no one’s fault but my own for moving to an edge of Cobb Co. (Acworth), but it would be nice to make trips to the “big city” more accessible. baby steps I guess, seems to be all they can do with the expanding transportation issue this area has.

If I remember correctly, one of the main reasons Marta trains don’t run into Cobb County is because the Cobbers (um… Cobbies, Cobbites?) said, “No Way!”

Hopefully this will be a good step to expanding some Cobb County minds and eventually some Marta rail lines.
