Trader Joe’s sites secret?

The AJC confirms what Lori told us almost a month ago:

Trader Joe’s isn’t saying. The company is infamously quiet, refusing to divulge locations and opening dates even after whispers on the street have risen to a roar. Spokeswoman Alison Mochizuki would only confirm that Trader Joe’s is coming to the market in 2006. She would not discuss possible locations.

The locations can’t be all that secret. Just read the comments here.

While this article states “The move into the proposed 12,000-square-foot stores at Midtown Promenade shopping center and Sandy Springs Plaza is the farthest south for the store…”

I would love love LOVE to see it take up the space where Market One was. Of course then there’s that pesky parking / more traffic issue…

Hmm… that is a good link. Maybe the AJC is honoring the request of TJ’s to not say where they are going to be? Either that or it is just a lack of research/googling.

And if you want to get prepared for the future opening you can listen to Slate Magazine’s “Insider’s Guide to Trader Joe’s” podcast.

The Atlanta Business Chronicle reported about a month ago that TJ is taking the Midtown and Sandy Springs locations, based on anonymous sources. That’s why the AJC’s story doesn’t have locations: they don’t want to credit the Chronicle and they don’t have their own sources on it.

If any one knows the name of their company that purchases the properties. Or maybe the legal name of the company itself I can look into some deeds. But if it is leased property then it’s any one’s guess.

Never mind. I found a recorded lease between SANDY SPRINGS PLAZA ASSOCIATES LP and TRADER JOES EAST INC filed 2/24/2006. It does not give an address but the land lot/district info points to a shopping center on Roswell Rd between Hammond Dr and Mt Vernon Hwy. Just slightly OTP.

Actually, Sandy Springs Plaza is here on Roswell and off Johnson Ferry

Is there any way we could just move another city into Atlanta and be done with it?
