ATL the movie

I just watched the ATL trailer on Apple.com and I’m cautiously optimistic. Big Boi doesn’t seem to me, at least on the surface, to be the kind of actor that Andre Benjamin is, but who knows.

I’m also a big fan of Keith David (that booming voice) and Mykelti Williamson (“Bubba” in Forrest Gump), so I think I’ll check it out.

Hard to tell from just the trailer, but it seems pretty good. At the very least you can see it was filmed locally.

Bonus: it looks like a few of the screenplay writers are notable – Gina Prince-Bythewood, who worked on A Different World, Love & Basketball & Felicity.;Antwone Fisher who wrote, what else, Antwone Fisher, and Tina Gordon Chism who wrote Drumline.

I could’ve sworn I saw Keith David in the Starbucks on Peachtree and 7th(ish) last year, but I couldn’t find any confirmation that he was in Atlanta. This is probably why he was here, eh?

    I love that guy.

I’m curious to see how much of it was actually filmed here in ATL, you know how they like to film all over.

A lot of the movie was actually filmed in the West End area, especially the skating rink. I don’t live too far from that area, and there were lots of film crew present.
