Happy Volleyball Day

Through Bill (ex-Metroblogger) I found out that professional volleyball is coming to Atlanta (at least on tour).

AVP Pro Beach Volleyball Tour Headed to Atlanta

“This is a big win for Atlanta,” said Gary Stokan, Atlanta Sports Council president. “The AVP Tour will give our city a marquee lifestyle sports event that will really stand out as something special in an already impressive annual sports lineup. And bringing beach volleyball back to Atlanta where it made its debut as an Olympic sport will pay special tribute to the 10-year anniversary of the Centennial Games.”

Normally I’d have something to say about Valentine’s Day, but isn’t the mention of taut, tanned bodies (of both sexes) in small swimwear present enough from me to you on this romantic day? I’m asking.

Wow – this is great! I remember back during the Downtown Festival/Tour of Homes back in May 2005 when there was a beach volleyball tournament in Woodruff Park and CAP/ADID were raving about how they really thing beach volleyball could work in Atlanta.

Sans beach, of course, but hey…it’s a good step and a great addition to the upcoming 10-year Olympic celebration.

Now maybe they can do something with that big torch tower I see every time I’m on 20-East….

Now lets get back to the tanned taunt bodies…
