Woke up Saturday morning to the power coming on and off again. Without the computer or the stove to make use of my Saturday morning, I headed out with the wife for coffee at the San Francisco in Virginia Highlands and some what-if shopping for furniture. Coming back into Midtown after noon we find traffic lights out up and down Ponce, leaving dumb-founded cars stumbling up the road with no direction and no common sense.

Everyone was a bad driver that morning. People see the cars ahead of them go from a dead stop and assume that means they have a green light when, in fact, they have no light at all. Almost killed me, but whatever, ’cause two minutes later when I don’t slow to a stop fast enough a driver crossing the street in front of me thinks I’m not going to stop at all. He takes his hands off the wheel and waves them at me and stops his car in the intersection.

Tip: If you think a car is about to careen into you, don’t stop in its path and hope that your hands will stop it. Rather, continue your move and be safely out of its way.

Not that I blame this particular driver, though, for not trusting me to stop. Not yesterday morning, when the traffic lights went out like the bulbs over our heads that they are.

What was that weird power off-and-on thing? It was very strange.

Sadly, I’ve no clue. Probably just a bad case of busted.
