Yet another thing to be proud of
You know the Wendy’s promotion where you get a free AirTran roundtrip flight after 64 cups of Coke? Well, Atlanta leads the nation in redemption.
As of last week, more than 200,000 tickets had been issued, Graham-Weaver said. Atlanta leads the nation in redemption with more than 5,000 tickets. Atlanta is followed by Akron, Ohio; New York; Fort Lauderdale, Fla.; and Flint, Mich.
The reason we’re leading is because, of course, we are so very very awesome.
I have friends participating in it and they do go to Wendy’s once a day to get their cups, plus they’ve offered a quarter to any cup that others may give them (I’ve donated 3 total to their effort and that has been enough to purchas a Twix at the candy machine in my building). Am I the only one not totally wrapped up in the insanity?
I was reading the fine print and I calculated you needed to get a drink from Wendy’s 2 out of every 3 days in order to get a return ticket
That level of commitment is a bit too much for me, though if you got a Frosty too it would only be once every 3 days
Domestic white goods brand Hoover ran a similar offer in the UK a few years ago and they totally underestimated the take-up. This lead to the whole offer becoming unviable, the collapse of the campaign and the company Hoover had appointed to run promotion. Very few people actually got their flights or vacations leading to considerable damage to the Hoover brand.
Enjoy your cups of Coke – they may be all you get from participating in the promotion.
Sapientum, I couldn’t disagree more with what I think will come of this. Both Wendy’s and AirTran are pretty good corporate citizens and both of them know that the hit in PR that they would take by not honoring the cups would be so horrible. I think it’s a pretty good promotion. It benefits both companies and it gives something to the consumers that they already want/need. Win-win for everyone.
