Coolin’ At The ATL, Ya Know!

coolinplayground.jpgInto the Mizzark, chillin- in the pizzark.
I got a break cuz my mother said, be home by dizzark.
But before I go, Im gonna flow for you in time see?
So listen to the rhyme, G!

Not only is Atlanta getting a brand new logo and a brand new mottoCan you have a motto made up of three disparate and mostly unrelated nouns? — but we’re also getting a brand new song! Monday night, either before or during or after Monday Night Football, writer/producer Dallas Austin is going to bless The City Too Busy To Hate with an anthem all its own. Who’s singing it? No idea. What’s it like? No clue. So I guess we’ll just have to look at Austin’s previous work experience to make an educated guess.

“Hit ‘Em Up Style (Ooops)” recorded by Blu Cantrell
“Unpretty” recorded by TLC
“Just Like A Pill” recorded by Pink
“Don’t Let Me Get Me” recorded by Pink
“Secret” recorded by Madonna
“Motownphilly” recorded by Boyz II Men
“Iesha” recorded by Another Bad Creation
“Playground” recorded by Another Bad Creation
“Ain’t 2 Proud 2 Beg” recorded by TLC
“What About Your Friends” recorded by TLC
“Creep” recorded by TLC*

I think we will all agree that the best of these top 40 and number one singles has to be 1991’s “Playground” by Another Bad Creation. The man made up his own words, for God’s sake! Pizzark! If there’s one thing that Atlanta could use more of, it’s a little more of that New Jack Swing. And I don’t know about you, but I’ll be happy to have our fair city become part of the East Coast Family.

This city needs and anthem like it needs a lame slogan. Oops, too late.

I owned that ABC album I was in middle school, alright? The video for Playground was filmed at the school right across from John Battle shopping center on Peachtree. Betcha didn’t know that. Booyah.
