“On the fifth day of Burrito…”

One of the daily highlights at our office is lunch. It is a time for sharing and getting a break from the office. Where to go, is always a question on everyone’s mind. And once a week we do burritos. “Oh no, this burrito place is better” “… no that burrito place…” And thus was born…

“FIVE DAYS OF BURRITO”
Burrito.jpg

Obviously I fear for my life, but to back down in front of the pack would be disastrous. On top of that, some of the guys have digestive issues, and five days of burritos is sure to result in a few casualties. The five places that made the list are as follows:

MONDAY: MEXICALI GRILL

TUESDAY: WILLY’S

WEDNESDAY: MOE’S

THURSDAY: CHIPOLTE

FRIDAY: QDOBA

Please say a short prayer for me… The things we do because of peer pressure… I am just glad that the “Milk Challenge” conversation did not win out over Burrito Week.

I could see going to Moe’s one day out of the week, followed by a trip to Chipotle a couple of lunches after, but really … if I had to eat nothing but burritos for five days straight, I’d need really good burritos.

Of course, Atlanta has not had burritos with that kind of quality in a little over two years.

That’s right, Thomas! Sigh… if only Tortilla’s was still around…

I have to agree… five days is too much. Even if it was great burrito. I had forgotten about Tortilla’s …wow…memories!!!

On Saturday you should swing over to Decatur and visit the last remaining Burrito Art? Or is that a Raging Burrito? Dammit I always get those mixed up!

Oh, and you plan on doing this next week right? I ask to know whether or not you will be done with Day 4 when (if) you show up for the Birthday Bash at Manuel’s Thursday night. :)

I love this idea. Love it. I could eat, well, at least tacos every day for a week, no problem. Burritos? If I could mix it up, with a different burrito place every day, probably. Alas, I just can’t afford to do it this week. Eating out is ‘spensive.

Sounds like an interesting challenge. Good luck.

Out of the choices in the list, I would say that Qdoba is the best. But, my all time favorite would be the Raging Burrito in Decatur.

I had a friend (Scott) who went to San Diego this year and would not eat anything except fish tacos-ha ha you reminded me of him when I read your blog. And you’re inspired me to eat at Bajaritos tonight for dinner.

Oh Paulie… if only it had been next week. I thought it would be easier… but I had to skip dinner tonight due to two days of giant burritos…They tend to add in a bunch of extra when you order in spanish….

As for the Raging burrito, I have not seen one of those in a long time…. I thought they were all gone.

Just two days of burritos and it is already getting “dangerous” in the office… I may have to invest in a gas mask.

so where’s the best burrito in atlanta?

  11. Briam (unregistered) on August 3rd, 2005 @ 10:02 am

I think that is a hard question. Some good places have bad days… some bad places have good days. Who’s cooking?…. fresh stuff? Even within a chain, there are some good ones and some awful ones. I think the best we can hope for is a place that is good most of the time. And currently my favorite is the Qdoba on Roswell…. very nice…

Oh My… third day of burrito (Moe’s) It was ok today… but I am starting to feel this “always bloated” feeling.

Raging Burrito on the square in decatur has by far the best burritos in atlanta. I found out about it after finding ragingburrito.com while surfing the net. I love their 150 seat back patio and it is a full service restaurant with great ritas and alot of tequilas and draft beers. This independent burrito shop blows away all of the other boring chain burritos in atlanta. Raging Burrito has finally made me forget about the great burritos Tortillas on ponce used to have.

The square in decatur is also a good place to check out. The have a great beer fest in october.

Yeah, there was talk of hitting up a Raging burrito, but there was not one near our office. I have not eaten there in a long time… and once I recover from burrito week.. :-) … I will have to seek one out.
