it’s all about me. and SCIENCE.
Surfing today, I came across an LA Times article about “anti-hipsters” which referred to LA Brain Terrain, a blog devoted to “intellectual” events in Los Angeles. (No snickers.) The author apologizes for not having much on the science calendar.
Now, I can’t speak for our LA counterparts, but I have to say, we here at the ATL metroblog — 359 days old and counting — have pretty much dropped the ball on giving you the SCIENCE! Which is embarrassing, considering that this blog is overflowing with techies. And Techies.
So:
Fernbank’s planetarium will be closed August 15th-September 7th for maintenance, but before that is doing some neat retellings of Native American myths and astronomy games shows.
Fernbank the Younger is doing Grossology through August 21st.
Yerkes is, er, probably doing all sorts of neat stuff. This week in the New York Times Magazine you can read about what happens to aged research chimps.
Atlanta Linux Enthusiasts NorthEast will have its next meeting Thursday, August 4th, after which you can come down to Manuel’s and party with us.
And on August 22nd, Tech fall classes start, which I happen to know because my doctoral program in city and regional planning is starting with it. Which is not very scientific — nor is my combination of yippee! excitement and petrified fear — but maybe being surrounded by actual engineers and computer-y types will help me keep y’all apprised of the SCIENCE.
