Atlanta Smells
When the remnants of Tropical Storm Cynthia blew through town on Wednesday night, I opened my front door for some stormwatching and my nose was greeted with an odor that I can only describe as beachy. I’m not an expert on these things, but I guess that the storm system hauled some sea air particles inland with it.
Whatever it was, it smelled nice.
On Thursday, however, things weren’t so nice. By morning, the smell of beach was completely gone. In its place was the smell of toilet. Could it be that the storm overwhelmed Atlanta’s combined sewer system, thus forcing airborne human waste aromas that usually stay underground.
I don’t know, but whatever it is, it smelled nasty. I’ll take diesel and roadkill skunk over toilet anyday.
Did anyone else experience something similar?
I noticed the same this morning. I thought i’d accidentally left some garbage near my front door.
I have rats on the street in two different locations (a mile apart) Thursday.
I noticed the same thing–both the salty “beach” smell early yesterday morning…and what came later. Unfortunately, yes, I think that all the rain overwhelmed the CSO points again.
I live downtown near the Civic Center, and from your previous posts it sounds we live in the same general area of the city.
And here, I just thought it was my car/house…
I live in SW Atlanta, about four miles from the civic center.
I noticed it too. And might I add, “… a sprinkle a day …”
