count the cones

You know a Braves game is not exactly compelling when the score is 1-0, albeit in the second inning, and Skip Caray and Pete van Wieren are chatting animatedly about . . . traffic.

Granted, this was not ear-popping analysis. More along the lines of:

Skip: You know how many cones there are between 85 and 141?
Pete: A lot.
Skip: And you’ve got plenty of time to count ’em.

And in their terseness, Skip and Pete touch on two items of great interest to Atlantans: (1) there’s plenty of construction work expected this summer, especially on 285 at Cobb Parkway and at Buford Highway, and (2) the Braves are sucking all kinds of wind.

Construction? On I-285? Unheard of… It’s not my imagination that they get further behind every year, is it?
