VIBE MusicFest Rundown

So far, the VIBE MusicFest is all kinds of wonderful. Nice crowd, good music, and it’s indoors! Face it, if Mother Nature does her worse, at least you won’t be thigh-high in muddy water like last year at Music Midtown.

Saturday will feature informative panel discussions featuring Rev. Al Sharpton, Ryan Cameron, Michael Eric Dyson, Chuck D, T-Boz, and La Toya London. The outdoor entertainment (rain permitting, perhaps) includes a bunch of local rappers I’ve never heard of except for Killer Mike. The concert that night features Ludacris, Faith Evans, T.I., a tribute to Bob Marley, and headliner Lauryn Hill (and yes, she is here).

Sunday is a more laid-back but equally awesome affair. Panel discussions include Nia Demali, Zane, Kedar Massenburg, Kandi Buress (of Xscape fame), Sheryl Lee Ralph, Mimi Valdes, Bishop Eddie Long, Yolanda Adams, Elise Neal and Reuben Cannon. The R&B stage will be on fire with Jaguar Wright, Anthony David, Lizz Fields, Syleena Johnson, and many more.

Tickets are still available for the expos ($20), and I think the outside soundstages are free. You can grab tickets for the Dome concert at the Georgia Dome Box Office. If you see a guy in an orange t-shirt snapping pictures, say hey!

Can’t guarantee it’ll be me though.
