In MARTA news….

MARTA, the transportation system Atlantans love to hate (but not more than traffic), has decided to stay the course on their $1.75 one-way rates until next year (except for the special event shuttles which get bumped up to $2.75). [link] On the flipside, they did fire 62 workers and plan not to modify 21 bus routes and eliminate three. Hopefully, the #23 won’t be in those.

In early 2006, MARTA will be implementing a new smart card system called BREEZE. [link] The premise is that a credit-card shaped lamina with a microchip embedded will be able to allow you entry into stations and on buses, ruling out those damned paper transfers, copper tokens and worse, the newspaper print bus transfers. They’d probably do better by just stamping it into my hand…maybe that’ll stop the bus after I chase it down for being too early.

No reason…just wanted to throw this badly designed Frontpage site in for kicks. Sadly, all it takes is for one person to have one bad experience on MARTA to continue to send its reputation further down the crapper.

You gotta love a web site where the font is comic sans.
