Dave FM Doesn’t Suck

For those of us who would like to permanently live in 1994, Dave FM (not to be confused with this Dave FM) is the only thing to listen to. With the not-so-recent firing of The Regular Guys from 96 Rock (and both Larry and Eric are keeping busy) and the transformation of The Morning X into The Don Miller Morning Show into The Toucher, Jimmy and Leslie Show, Atlanta radio is going through some definite changes.

Enter Dave FM, the former Z93. It boasts a slate of what used to be called “alternative” music mixed in with tons of lighter rock fair of the past 3 decades. Now I’m certainly a fan of some of the newer new rock that Q100 and 99X peddle (The Killers, John Mayer, Modest Mouse and Franz Ferdinand jump to mind) but I’m also a sucker for Soul Asylum, Toad The Wet Sprocket, Sting and Simple Minds. Heck, they even lured Barnes away from his nascent acting career back to Atlanta to be a Deejay again.

So welcome, Dave FM, to the previously non-turbulent Atlanta radio market. This could well be the biggest thing to happen in Atlanta radio since Power 99 stopped playing Hammer and started playing Nirvana.

Or not.

Probably not.

Come to think of it. Definitely not.

Agreed! The best thing about DaveFM is listening to all the rock from the past few decades. Excellent stuff.

Hi My name is Kendall …and I listen to DaveFM (shhh – it’s a secret …I’m supposed to be an avid q100 listener). What can I say – I love DAVE

Dave FM is schwag radio. how can you play:

tori amos-silent all these years and then follow it with beastie boys/soundgarden/hard rocky stuff.

Dave FM should change their slogan from ‘breaking all the rules about radio’ to ‘all the shit you never want to hear anyway’

Dave FM is great! I have become an avid listener, especially since thay have added the morning show with Barnes and Firfer. I really missed Barnes when he left 99X, now I leave my radio on 92.9! Dave FM is the best!

Barnes is on DaveFM, DaveFM is playing all-rock, 96Rock is playing early vinyl/classic rock, 99X has barnes, leslie, and toucher.

    I’m all confused now :)

Oh – and toucher (sp??) needs to control some of the liberal bias / 0 morals crap he keeps spewing from time to time.

As a partner of daveFM, we are proud of the changes from Z93. They have lost that redneck Georgia feel that hinders 96 Roxck so badly. They have focused on 20-50 year old professionals whom enjoy the music experience by attending concerts, listening parties and unique promotional events.

    Go dave! We love ya

Dave FM has recieved a lot of payolla from U2,

that’s all they play or talk about. I used to like U2. But since I can’t pick anything else up worth a darn (Lawrenceville) I am forced to listen to 3 U2 songs every 45 minutes.

Rock without rules my ass. They started out that way but now I geuss DAVE thinks if they play enough U2 songs, people in Africa will have a better way life. PLAY A FREAKIN BEATLE SONG EVERY NOW AND THEN.

And please fire that GODAWFUL MARA DAVIS

    Thank you,
