Agreed....I get so tired of people hatin' on the city. It seems like Atlanta catches non-stop shit from both OTPers and smug hipsters who are claiming that they are moving to NYC or SF or Austin any day now. Seriously, please go. And we can all act like we hate the Edgewood shopping center (as a symbol of suburban stores in the city and terribly designed to boot) but don't act like you aren't secretly grateful that you no longer have to venture so far to get your Target on. You can support better development and independent stores to have a positive impact on the cityscape...but blanket negativity doesn't help!

Sure, what the hell-- I'll offer my assistance. I have a blog and am pretty active on Yelp, so I get around town a bit, and fancy myself a fairly proficient writer. (Although maybe I'm just good at fooling a lot of people.)

I'd like to find out some more information on it! I've been blogging (mostly photos, some actual writing) for quite a while now. I'm pretty active in the kind of alt-atl realm - doing things like soapbox derbies (Red Bull and local), drive-in stuff, bike stuff, going to shows, eating out. Huh, guess that's actually kind of normal for ITP'ers.

I've also got a big dirt track in my yard, have been in a couple local movies and currently been working on trucks a good bit, so I've been stereotyped as a kind of urban redneck. Whatever that is.

I am very interested in writing for the site. I'm a native Metro Atlantan (born and raised in Marietta), which seems to be rare in the city these days, so I think I could definitely bring a "vintage" perspective to the blog.

I'd also just add that the last decade of intown revitalization has also brought a lot of really great developments and historic restorations, including, but not limited to:

Swift and co., and the rest of Castleberry Hill
Troy Peerless building
Puritan Mill
Glenn Hotel
Ellis Hotel
Fulton Bag and Cotton Mill
Southern Dairies
Bass High Lofts
StudioPlex
The Biltmore
the Luckie Marietta District

New developments:
1180 Peachtree
Glenwood Park
Ormewood Square
MidCity Lofts
Technology Square

Sure, Sembler has done its share of suburban style development, but that piece of art ignores lots of really hard work done to keep Atlanta special.
