I am planning a hawt date for me and my mate …and am running a lil low (read: i’ve got nothing) on fresh and “exciting” ideas. We are definitely going to dinner (a girl’s gotta eat) but besides that I can’t really decide.

Has anyone been to Whole World Theatre? Is it worth the $20? Easy to get tix this late in the game?
How about Atlanta Rocks!? Nothing like being sweaty and out of breath on a date, right?

I want to do something fun, and different - any suggestions?

Help me out here …Dinner and a Movie is not an option!!!!

In the annoying spirit of the season … I want to know:

What is the BIGGEST (read: RIDICULOUS, HEART WRENCHING, JOYOUS, FUNNY, WTF, etc;) story of the year, here in the ATL?

Was it ya girl …whatshername? The one with the bug eyes that left her fiancee at the altar but came back with the damn blanket on her head?

OR

Was it ya boy… Inmate #0509994? Dude lost his effing mind shooting up all those folks for no damned reason?

OR

Maybe it was the Blogpolsion popping off at the AJC?

OR

Piebar opening, Piedmont Parking Deck being approved, Shirley being re-elected, wi-fi at the airport, Fatburger opening, the ATL branding campaign, the Braves choking (again), the Falcons disappointing seasons, the original Club 112 demolition (pour out a lil liquor), TV’s on MARTA, IKEA, the new High, the Fish Tank?

The Hawks are on a winning streak …. 2 in a row?
In my dream — I vividly recall hearing Mike Bell from 790 the Zone tell me that the Hawks pulled off another upset in Cleveland last night. He told me that not only did they win, the Hawks never trailed in the game …not once.

Is it me …or did someone else hear the same thing? I will be back to check the comments — I need to go and check the temperature in hell…

9. The “new” left turn arrow at the corner of Piedmont/Cheshire Bridge and Monroe Drive … no more sneaking through the parking lot of Franco’s pizza. The fact that this light was erected …gives me hope about seeing an arrow at Ponce/Briarcliff in my lifetime … I love it!

8. Decatur Recreation department. I know that it isn’t technically Atlanta but would Decatur be Decatur if not for Atlanta? I think NOT. Anywhoo, the Dec Rec (hee hee) is awesome …organized with kick ass community involvement and support. If you though Office Space was funny …you should check out Mini basketball games (5-6 year olds) on Saturdays starting @ 1. I love it!

7. That fish tank. I had the pleasure to spend last Saturday stroking the shell of my new best friend - Ray the horse shoe crab. Did you know that horseshoe crab’s blood is used to test drugs for bacteria? Yep and OUR aquarium has them chillin in a tank where we can pet them! I love it!

6. The dude at Two Urban Licks last night that drove up in the 2004 FORD Expedition with the Lamborghini doors ( ya know the ones that go UP when you open them) and the three thousand dollar rims. I gotta tell ya - it looked great! But dude, it’s still a FORD! I love it!

5. The Atlanta White house. Everytime I drive pass this house, I giggle thinking what in the world did Ma and Pa Cressler had to be thinking when they saw that there domicile being built… it’s collosal almost 3 times the size of the ranch houses directly across Briarcliff! I love it!

4. Now more than ever — everything about the shopping plaza on Moreland …The Edgewood Retail District! There’s a RuSan’s over there now. Couple that with the 3 *$ and the Target where the employees actually seem to enjoy their jobs to the point where they actually smile and offer unsolicited assistance ..it’s great! I love it!

3. This is a tough one but in the name of keeping it real … I have to admit that I love Atlanta’s traffic! Just the other day I was sitting it in my car minding my own business - I saw a dude dressed as Santa, a chick dressed like a clown AND … AND a kid whith his mouth stuck on the rear window of his Mom’s Range Rover making funny faces at me. Very very funny — it made my day…all 3 of them! I love it!

2. Fellini’s pizza. Nuff said. I love it!!!

1. Under Armour! I know technically, there is nothing ATL related there ..BUT boy oh boy …there is NOTHING better than driving down the road on a sunshiney day and seeing the chiseled ‘ceps (tri’s and bi’s) decked out in the UA …jogging. It’s a beautiful thing, y’all … a beautiful thing.

The problem I have with this whole thing is the fact that, according to the article, the victim took the money out of her retirement fund to purchase the game for the kid. At first I thought about it …well ya know - maybe the kid is a really good kid, perhaps in saying retirement fund they actually meant the money under the mattress, then I thought about it ….and said ala Whitney Houston …oh hell to the naw.

*climbing up on soapbox* The mentality that I must get the latest and greatest for my kid no matter what is part of what is wrong with our society. It is what led the victim to pilfer her retirement and what, presumably, led “bruhman” the robber to stick a gun in her face. I remember back in the day when I was a wee one when I really thought my nickname was “No, I’m not buying that” . This was because everytime we went to the store - that’s all that I heard from my parents. I wondered if my parents went out of their way to secure that speak ‘n spell for me oh so many years ago. So I called home to ask them, after my mom stopped laughing - she reminded me that Christmas was about the Birth of Jesus back when I coming up …. OH YEAH….. When did it become OK, even expected that Christmas became the Season for Giving (your kids/friends/family things you can’t really afford)?

According to this article Home Depot actually banned a customer for “shoplifting” an used pencil from a store near Boston.

So I’m saying - is this the beginning of the end? How hard up must one be to chase down AND ban a customer over forty nine cents?

Any suggestions for kid-friendly places you may have stumbled across preferably ITP - thought it seems that most of the truly “hip and happening” things for the kids are noticably OTP. What’s up with THAT?

It’s interesting how there haven’t been any reports on this besides this in the City Newsbytes newsletter…OR did I miss something? Are they even operational? How much is the fine? Can a sista get a warning the next time y’all do something like this?

Now that gas has spiked over 3 bucks/gallon - I’ve become more aware of my driving habits, including time and distance. I am utilizing the AC less and am driving at or below the speed limit. I’ve signed up for a carpool and am working on a telework proposal to present to “the Man” at work. It’s a shame that it took a $12.84 gasoline purchase (topping off my tank, mind you) to move me to action - but it is what it is.
In light of my heightened sense of all things petro, nothing chafes my hide more than sitting in traffic. Traffic that just doesn’t have to be. Traffic that is caused by an insane amount of people all deciding to head in the same direction at the same time. Traffic that is further exacerbated by the lack of sound traffic control.
Inspired by this sign - which incidentally was removed a week or so back - I’m curious about exactly WHAT it would take to have a turn signal added to the southbound (I’m directionally challenged) lane on Briarcliff at the Ponce de Leon intersection?
It’s not that I don’t enjoy staring at the bulge for 10 minutes as I attempt to cross over Ponce, nor is it that I mind idling behind a MARTA bus spewing noxious fumes as it inches ever closer to the bus stop at said intersection

Where do I begin?
Who do I call?
Do I need signatures?
Am I required to be a city of Atlanta resident?

Any suggestions would be appreciated….
