open thread: footie or soapboxes this weekend?

okay, it’s friday afternoon, which mean i want, no i NEED, to know what you kids are up to this weekend. it is what i live for, it’s what gets me through the final hours before i can hop on the marta #140 and get my ass home.

your intrepid author will either be a)watching the red bull soapbox derby (assuming it’s not raining) or b) hanging out at either the brewhouse cafe (if i can get a table) or the midway pub (if i can’t) to watch manchester united v. arsenal (assuming rain cancels plan a.)

how about you, kids. what’s going down this sat and sun?

I’ll be finding a gift for a baby shower on Saturday, attending said baby shower on Sunday. Any leftover hours will be spent straightening up my place in anticipation of my houseguest next week & hanging out with the dog. And I might try to go see a movie.

I didn’t do any of the above, but I do have a question: what’s the deal with the soap box derby changing from a grass roots event at the drive in to a Red Bull sponsored event at Piedmont?

    Anyone?

i think they are two different things. the thing in piedmont park is part of a massive national ad campaign launched by red bull. frankly, i’d rather red bull spend their ad dollars giving me something fun to do in my town then on commercials.
