THANK YOU! Oh, my gawd--I've been thinking the same thing for the last few years. You hit all the same production issues that drive me crazy. I can't believe how slack they are sometimes--the dead air, overlapping audio, mispronunciations, and general amateur hour ... it's simply baffling how slack they can be.

I thought they went downhill when John Lemley left the afternoons to host All Things Considered. That's when I stopped supporting and started rarely listening during that time.

I know it was a big move for him.

I still enjoy the late night music.

-That's how I feel.

WABE has been amateur hour for years now. Terrible talent even for a public radio station, no local programming except for Maynard Jackson's widow, and production problems weekly. It's embarrassing that even places like Charlotte and Kansas City have much better NPR affiliates than Atlanta. If, say, Oglethorpe were to sponsor a GPB affiliate and broadcast a lineup something like WAMU in Washington it would a) put WABE out of business and b) attract a pretty significant audience and thus donor base.
