Atlanta: Bank heist capital of nation

We’re #1!

Oh, and 350 robberies in 12 months is pretty darn close to one a day. Way to go Atlantans (who attempt to rob banks)!

I wonder if this number includes credit unions. Hopefully, my money is safe.

Anyone ever witnessed a bank heist? Was it as cinematic as you thought it would be?

You know what, I may have to edit it just to wedge one in there.

It’s worth noting that the definition of “Atlanta” in these statistics is the entire State of Georgia! That’s what the local FBI field office covers, so that’s what gets reported as “Atlanta”.

It seems to me banks could eliminate robberies altogether by simply not having branches for anything other than starting accounts.

With the advent of ATM cards and online banking and direct deposits it seems unnecessary to have physical locations that become targets by the low lifes of society.

The sooner we become a cashless society the sooner we quit putting peoples lives at risk for simply doing their jobs.

I rarely go into banks, but had to today. The tellers at the Wachovia on Moreland (Edgewood Shopping Center) are now sitting behind (what I assume to be) bulletproof glass. Is this common?
