Also, please note that while they rant towards MARTA, they did not escape on it. This does not bolster's Cobb's arguement.

You're much more likely to die in a car accident, living out in the suburbs, than to die of homicide living intown and walking everywhere. Plus the suburbs aren't exactly crime-free, either.

Fair enough if it was that close. However the possibility of someone using MARTA as a gettaway is still pretty laughable to me. I can't really picture someone standing on the platform with a t.v. and waiting 15 minutes for the next train. Seems like they would be a sitting duck to me. You'd think we had the best public transit in the country if people are able to rob someone and zip away in a flash on a MARTA train. This would be a ringing endorsement of efficiency of MARTA if it were true.

I think that MARTA should certanly be identified in this situation. If criminals are using public transportation as a getaway route, it needs to be noted. Whoever wrote the bulletine didn't ignore the fact that a MARTA officer was crucial to the capture either.

I think the real bottom line is that if we had more officers in the city, and particularly more officers who respond with the certainty of the zone 6 force, then crime like this would decline.

Actually, if you look at the address, it's only about 2 blocks west of the Inman Park/Reynoldstown MARTA station and a fair distance from King Memorial which is almost to GSU.

While I agree in part with what you say about MARTA needlessly being dragged through the mud, I think this may have been a fair statement in this situation, especially if they were planning to use MARTA to flee the area. Of course, this just bolsters the Cobb county argument for not allowing MARTA, but whatever.

This is too bad. Also this is an example of how MARTA has gained a bad reputation. Every time there is violence in the general vicinity of a station MARTA's name gets dragged in the mud. "The perpetrators fled towards the MARTA station" is a vague description considering there are MARTA stations in both directions along Dekalb.
