I’m so glad I’m self -employed and can usually avoid the city rush, although even out in the country you can be stopped for hours behind a fatal accident. I don’t know how people cope with sitting in that every day!

Agreed that telecommuting is the best. I did it for about three years. It does get lonely, but you can always work in a coffee shop (or at least I sometimes did).

Agreed that the pub trans here sucketh. I tried that, too, when I lived in East Atlanta and worked in Buckhead. Took me longer to take Marta to work than it did to drive, which is pretty sad.

I used to have the counter-commute up 400 to Alpharetta from Buckhead, but after two years and crushing traffic moved near work. Work is now at home, the best commute of all, even if it gets lonely sometimes and I’m contemplating moving back in-town somewhere. Everytime I have anything to do in the city, the drive in makes it suck.

I have nothing to compare the commutes here, too, but I have visited many cities with far better public transportation and I don’t see it improving anytime soon…

Alpharetta to Midtown sucks. It used to be Midtown to alpharetta didn’t suck quite as bad, but now it sucks, too.

I used to do Riverdale to Downtown and said never again. Now I have a ten minute, seven block commute on foot. It actually takes me longer to drive to work than walk.

I’ve got the best commute I’ve ever had. 30 minutes each way, very little traffic (not any that affects me anyway), lots of sunshine and exercise. The pollution is a drag, but the boost I get pedaling across 20 and 75/85 overpasses, watching the suckers sitting motionless in gridlock every day — that’s priceless.

That’s got to be the perfect description of an Atlanta commute. I did Alpharetta to Midtown for only a little over 3 months, and every day I felt like sobbing.
