vick indicted.

you would have to be living under a rock right now to not know that falcons qb michael vick has been indicted by a federal grand jury in conjunction with running an illegal dogfighting kennel on a property he owned in virginia.- full story in the ajc here.

i spent some time reading the indictment last night and a few things popped out at me –

– first, the level of cruelty these dogs were subjected to is enough to make anybody squirm. read the indictment and wait until you get to the part about the ‘rape table’ for the female pit bulls
-second, it’s clear that there is a pretty large dog-fighting subculture throughout the southeast. i hope people will be persuaded by this high-profile indictment to seek their entertainment elsewhere. this sort of thing has no place in our society anymore
– next, vick is also known as ‘ookie’ in the indictment. i guess this is yet another name for enterprising fans to put on a jersey.
-finally, vick and his alleged co-conspirtaors named their alleged operation the “bad newz kennel.” the folks over at ronmexico.com didn’t have any ‘bad newz kennel’ shirts up for sale as of first glance this morning, but i am betting it won’t be long.

    Innocent until proven guilty.

I’m sure I risk getting flamed for this, but the fact is there is a reason this is so prevelent in the southeast and that is because this is a mainly black thing. Not to say white folks don’t participate as well but the vast majority of folks who are in and part of this world are black.

If anything, he should have been indicted for his lousy leadership and play at QB. I wonder if ‘moveonatlanta.org’ is registered. This town has been victimized too long by subpar QB play and we all need to move on.

Honestly, I wouldn’t give a shit if he had won the superbowl.

He has repeatedly shown the city of Atlanta what a complete ASS he is (flipping off the fans, the secret-compartment water bottle, and now this), and I, for one, have had enough. Yes, I’m aware that he hasn’t been found guilty yet, but the events were happening on his property, so you can at LEAST agree that he was complicit in the goings-on.

I can’t see any reason that Blank and the rest of the organization shouldn’t give him the boot. Do you really think having a different QB is going to affect ticket sales THAT much?

If Vick stays, then the Falcons better be prepared for groups of VERY vocal protesters outside the stadium this fall.

    Mike Vick IS “Bad Newz”

i *HAVE* been under a rock. A Harry Potter spoiler-proof rock. CONSTANT VIGILGANCE! is not a joke in my household. wow.

unbelivable, but, innocent until prove guilty. We’ll just have to see how this unfolds. But yeah, he’s like on his 5th strike.
