Mess With Their Heads

I didn’t know this, but the Bank of America Plaza building is the largest building in the Southeast, the tallest building outside of New York City and Chicago (take that, other mid-size cities!), and the 26th tallest building in the world.

It is also one of my favorite vehicles for messing with the kids’ heads. One of my ex-boyfriends, who also grew up in the ATL, told me that his father used to tell him that monkeys lived in the “cage” at the top of the building.

That’s just one of those tall tales that is too fun to pass up telling to your own kids. Go ahead. Use it. You know you want to. You might even be able to pull it over on a gullible out-of-towner, a feeble-minded grandparent, or a drunk friend.

Also the tallest building in a state capital. I was told the secret recipe for coca-cola is in the spire.

We always call it the birdcage. So I wonder if there are some fabulous drag performers up there?
