Rusty, Alyssa, and I went with the Henry County Ghost Hunters to the former Georgia Mental Health Institute, which is now part of the Emory Lifelong Learning campus. We experienced some creepy, unnerving stuff... we recorded a podcast about it, complete with EVPs, which you can listen to here.

Hi Annie. The antebellum house I lived in was called Casulon - out in Walton Country. Built in c. 1825, It outlasted everything, including Sherman, who camped there. He decided to spare it but, fire did not. It burned to the ground a few years back. I morn its loss. An amazing house it was. I don't know where those spirits live now. Steve.

Here at the Wren's Nest, we host ghost hunters all the time. Tonight will be our fourth hunt of 2007.

Now, I'm not really interested in paranormal stuff, but since we started hosting ghost hunters here at the Nest there have been some seriously fishy incidents.

A few weeks ago we allegedly spoke to a spirit (named Mable or May Bell; former slave originally from the Carribean) using electromagnetic wave readers. The answers to our questions were eerily consistent ...for over an hour!

Last November on a dark and stormy night we had a group of ghost hunters who asked if one of the ghosts could show them a sign--and the front door made an unnatural, loud, abrupt noise I'd never heard before, as if in response to our question. We asked three more times, the door responded three more times.

Later, I took the ghost hunters down to the basement, and four lightbulbs went out in succession as I tried to turn them on. Not that they were out to begin with, but each turned on and then popped out. The psychics who were with us did not like the presence down there, not one bit.

Now I'm not sayin' I believe in this stuff ...but I'm just sayin. I plan on live-blogging the ghost hunt tonight as usual.

My husband is gonna laugh his butt off when he sees this. He was watching it. He LOVES that show. This is a man who won't deign to watch reality television. But he will sit there and laugh at that stupid British woman and all those people oohing and ahhing at bumps in the night, cold spots, and breezes. I totally make fun of him, as it is pretty much his only guilty pleasure.

Where is this antebellum house you lived in? Is it in GA? Still standing?

I have never had an Atlanta experience. I did ask about other people's ghost stories one Halloween here on Metblogs: http://atlanta.metblogs.com/archives/2006/10/tell_me_a_story.phtml

Hope more people chime in, as it was a fun thread, and I liked to hear the ghost stories.

Okay, I promised in my post - my story: It was NOT a dark and stormy night. I was 6 years old, living in an old antebellum home ( very long story ). I was sleeping in my own bed in my Mom's room. Late in the night, the small radio we had in the room came on, loudly. It just came on. The radio was, indeed, off before going to bed but, all the sudden, it came on at max. volume about 4 a.m. in the morning. It woke me and Mom up out of a deep sleep. There was no explanation. Totally, no explanation. This house was known for "paranormal" experiences. After the house was sold (we didn't own it) and we moved out, the owner's wife decided to leave the house after seeing the image of an old man standing behind her in the mirror in the kitchen. Spock would say, "fascinating". I say that today. Got a story - a real story?
