Anyone Else Find the WSB Billboard Annoying?

Is anyone else a little annoyed with the WSB billboard at Briarcliff and Johnson Roads? In case you haven’t seen it, it shows three pictures. Let’s see if I can remember this correctly – I only saw it yesterday, but i was so thrown off by it, that I might have missed some details. One photo is Saddam Hussein, one is Osama Bin Laden, and one is Kim Jong Il. The Saddam photo is marked across, as if someone has a most wanted list, and is marking off the people on the list as they are apprehended and taken to trial (and put to death, I assume).

Don’t get me wrong. I think the three of them are murderers and pretty much get what they deserve, but somehow this billboard just seems so . . . flip. I guess I just don’t like the wild west video game feel of the ads.

Is it just me?

p.s. I tried to find a picture of the billboard online, but to no avail. I will try to snap a picture of it when I get up that way again.

That is just odd. Found it on flickr —

Should have thought of Flickr – duh. So, it’s not just me. Kinda tasteless, no? Thanks, Broderick.

It’s not just you. I know of at least two of these billboards. I in no way condone the actions of the three men shown, but find the boards incredible distasteful as far as advertising schemes go.

Yep, that sounds like the WSB that I remember from my stint in Atlanta.

I was just thinking how tacky that billboard is this past weekend – there’s one just off the Piedmont/Buford Hwy exit.

what do you expect from the right-wing apologists at WSB. These are the fine corporate citizens that bring us Neal “I never met a race-baiting argument I didn’t like” Boortz, Sean “Baby Jesus Wannabe” Hannity, and Michael “I have a man-love crush on that sexy female impersonator Anne Coulter” Savage. They have no soul and no moral compass – they are only in it for the money, and apparently a crass, intellectually-lacking billboard is just the ticket for the knee-jerk masses. God bless the first amendment.

Man, you pot smokin’ hippies just don’t get it do you? Can’t you see that this billboard is just a well deserved ‘thank you’ note to Boortz, Hannity, Savage and Coulter for their brave, self-sacrificing, and may I add, heroic, efforts to depose and execute Saddam Hussein? And the next time Osama and Kim-Jong are driving through Atlanta, they need to look long and hard at that billboard, because they’re next on the hit-list of the Freedom Talk Brigade! Huzzah!

Team America is a nation that takes it’s cops n’ robbers imperialism seriously. You’re either with us or…well…you know, you’re like conscious or something.

    I agree, Kelly. Distasteful.

    You people are ignorant.

Kim, Osama and Saddam are WSB’s wacky new morning team.

Thanks be to God that we have intellectual snobs like you, DJ, to remind us of just how ignorant and easily led like a little pack of sheep we knee-jerk masses are.

Now if you will excuse me, I need to go to my party rally. Big Brother is watching me, you know.

DJ – Easy tiger. The thing is, I know a lot of people who listen to WSB (myself included) who still think that this kind of advertising is tasteless. A conservative can be a conservative without being crass. It just seems like the ad people don’t really “get” the people they are advertising to, IMO.

So, DJ, pray tell. . . where does one get this ability to see people’s souls or lack thereof and to judge their morality? You are so talented.

    Andisheh wins for best comment.

Seconded – Andisheh wins. Especially because in my head the “you people are ignorant” was said in the south-park-imitating-michael-jackson voice.

And Abby wins “most creative use of voices inside her head.”

Hannity’s obnoxious loud ass should be in that lineup.

  17. Andisheh Nouraee (unregistered) on May 15th, 2007 @ 9:58 pm

Abby also wins something for reading “ignornant” in the same voice I had in my head when I typed it.

Aren’t we all winners here? Come on, we’re each doing our special part to better the world by commenting on a blog.

Andisheh, I think Abby is actually a mind-reading witch. Abby, are you a witch?

You never know, but don’t tell Laura Mallory …

  21. Annie (unregistered) on May 16th, 2007 @ 10:33 am

Laura mallory would totally give you the water test to test your witchiness. See if you float up in the Chattahoochee or Lake Allatoona.
