hockeytown?
you may have been too busy wondering whether some 17 year old will be spending the next three to four years in athens, gainesville or knoxville, but we actually have a hockey team here in atlanta.
oh, and with the combination of a win and a toronto loss last night, the thrashers have clinched a playoff birth.
when the thrashers take the ice for their playoff series it will the first that phillips arena has ever hosted.
sweet.
p.s. – as a peremptory strike – yes i know the (rangers/bruins/islanders/red wings/maple leafs) have won (insert number here) stanley cups, and yes i know we southerners don’t know anything about hockey. we don’t care. the thrashers are still going to the playoffs.
I’m not betting on this but I hope this is the third year in a row that the Stanley Cup champions originate from the Southeastern Conference. It really eats at the canadiens.
Yep, last year really p’d off some in the great white north
The team practically is Canadian – if they aren’t from Eastern Europe they are from Canada.

I’m a lifelong Bruins fan that has lived from Augusta, Georgia to Augusta, Maine, and I think it’s awesome that the Thrashers will make the playoffs. I hope they can make it to the finals.
cheers, guys. i hope they can make it to the finals as well.
