Courtyard Atlanta Midtown/Georgia Tech Labor Dispute?

Anybody have any details on the striking/picketing workers outsie the Courtyard Atlanta Midtown/Georgia Tech?

I must not be any good at the internets because I can’t find anything via Google/Technorati/AJC.

I’ve seen the guys standing on the 14th Street exit/Techwood Drive every morning this week and their vague yet large “labor dispute” sign gives not details, URL or organization, so I’m at a loss.

Please help un-stupify me. Thank you.

hmmmm — i wonder if it’s that organization that protests businesses who don’t use union labor…. I’ve heard that they pay homeless people to carry signs — i’ve mainly seen this in play downtown though

I think CodyMC has it right. And you are correct, the people holding the signs don’t know anything about the issue other than the fact they are getting paid to stand there. This happened several times in Midtown about the Norfolk Southern building, the Colony Square Athletic Club, and at least a few more buildings in the past two years. Generally there is also a “Shame on insertnamehere” sign out there too.

i believe you are looking for this website: http://shoulder2shoulder.com/

i spoke with this group when they protesting the hyatt downtown and the protestors are indeed paid. whether they are homeless or not is still TBD. i don’t think any of them were carpenters and i have to question the money man that pays them.

clearly, someone has an agenda here because they protest all over the country according to their website. in the age of the internet, aren’t there better ways to fight for your cause besides standing on the street and disturbing thousands of people who are working?

I’ve said it before and I’ll say it again: let’s get rid of the human filth that prowls downtown atlanta

Rex: why did you have to take the conversation there?

And I’m confused about which human filth you’re referring to?
