o’hare this!

atlanta has once again beaten out chicago for the dubious luxury of the world’s busiest airport. according to statistics released by the faa hartsfield-jackson has 976,313 takeoffs and landings compared with o’hare’s 958,643 (see story in ajc here.)

so there.

your football team may be headed to the playoffs with a good shot at winning the super bowl, but we once again rule in the dubious distinction of having a really, really busy airport.

of course, any good pr person can spin anything and the deputy general manager of the airport is no exception, being quoted in the ajc as saying,

“What this is indicative of is the continued robust economy in the city of Atlanta, the good weather we have and the ever-increasing number of corporate headquarters that are being set up here,” said Mario Diaz, deputy general manager of Hartsfield-Jackson.

take that, chicago, with your wind and your snow and what-not.

of course, o’hare is under quite a few flight restricitions and competes with midway for passenger traffic, but we’ll just brush those details under the rug. c’mon, we are the kings when it comes to busy airports.
