Football Watching

I’m not going to pretend like I know the best place to watch pro-football this season, because I usually watch with some friends, some snacks, some Foosball, and some XBOX at someone’s house. But last night for opening night, I ventured to the new Taco Mac at Lindbergh to enjoy the show. This is a nice venue to watch sports in it (Federer vs. Blake in the US Open was also on). There are half a million televisions there (all high-definition – just like my home base Taco Mac in VaHi) and they are placed in such a way that you never really have to strain your neck to see the games. And they have 100 beers on tap. So once you’ve received your passport, that’s 100 beers you can drink 20 Oz. of for the price of 16.

In the past, I’ve watched games a number of places including last year’s Monday night fun at Highland Tap where there was this great deal that for $3 you got a beer (Bud light or Miller light or something like that) and a hot dog and Sidelines (which on Sundays has an atmosphere that is pretty conducive to enjoying a good day full of your favorite Fantasy Football players).

Anybody know any other good places?

Honestly – Mr. C’s on Howell Mill is a decent place to watch a game. They’ve got all the satellite sport packages (all NFL, MLB, NHL etc. games) and $5 pitchers of Coors, $7.50 Sweetwater. It’s usually not crowded, which fits my crummy dive mentality rather well.

Gibney’s (fomerly Charlie and Barney’s) downtown near peachtree center is the same way. They also have turtle races.

I was recently told about Piebar having an NFL night. My husband and I might check it out. Sorry for the promo language, but I don’t have time to edit out all the !!s. :) This is the e-mail I got:

    PIEBAR’S READY FOR SOME FOOTBALL!
    NFL Sunday Ticket at piebar!
Every Sunday and Monday, all of our flat screens will be playing NFL games.

Not only are we welcoming you to come watch your favorite team, but we are also offering to be your team’s sports bar!

Of course we would love to become a home for the Falcons, but it’s up to you – The Fans!!

    Here’s how it works:
The group that shows up this Sunday, September 10 with the most fans for their team will receive a free beer tab (Miller Lite and Number’s Ale) for this Sunday and will be able to claim piebar as their team’s home for the rest of the season.

At halftime, the group with the most fans will be awarded the free beer tab that is good for the entire game.
(Minimum of 8 fans to qualify.)

So come in, bring a crowd, and make piebar your place to watch your team play some football!

Every Sunday, we will be featuring specially priced pizzas and pitchers of Miller Lite.

piebar is open 7 days a week for lunch and dinner.
