Vanishing Atlanta

Not a particularly accurate title, as metro Atlanta seems to be growing ever and ever larger in diameter. For those of us who grew up in these here parts, though, it is rather fitting, because so many of the things we grew up with are paved over now.

I love to look at old pictures of Atlanta and compare them to what the city looks like now. James recently blogged about The Atlanta Time Machine and I thought I’d share one of my favorite sites containing Atlanta photos: Vanishing Georgia. Vanishing Georgia is the Georgia Archives’ searchable database of photos pertaining to [duh] Georgia. Search for photos with the keyword “Atlanta” and you’ll get 900+ pictures. The whole collection includes more than 18,000 Georgia photographs, and is searchable by city or county.
