Anyone at the Airport Today?

I was reading posts from other MetroBlogging cities today, especially those affected by the recent failed terrorist plot. In particular, this post at LA Metblogs reminded me that not one of us Atlanta Metbloggers had written a word about the situation. (And we have the sometimes busiest airport in the country!) I don’t fly much these days, but I know tons of you do. Anyone get the full-on terrorism prevention experience at Hartsfield (ahem, Jackson) today? Share with the class, if you will. . . .

I came in on AirTran from Seattle the night before on my worst flight ever – we were descending on time when a 10-minute weather system decided to park itself over the airport. Apparently, we didn’t have enough fuel to make it for 10 minutes, so we were diverted to Augusta to refuel. Well, it took 2 hours sitting in the plane at Augusta to refuel. Then, we headed back to Atlanta, landed (3 hours late) and all the gates were taken. We sat on the plane for another 1.5 hours waiting for a gate. Why we couldn’t have used one of Delta’s 8 open gates that I was staring at the entire time is beyond me… sigh…

Anyway, not at all related to the foiled terrorist plot, I guess I should just be glad that I got in ahead of that all.
