pete yorn @ criminal – plus some itp/otp thoughts (which i am sure you care less about)
seems like such a dearth of things to write about these days. sure there was linda schrenko’s sentencing which would have leant itself to the obvious and obligatory jokes about her hair but that is kind of like shooting fish in a barrel, and i don’t really care about the braves, so that’s out, but thank god for music which always comes through in a pinch.
pete yorn will be at criminal records in little 5 on tuesday at 6:00 pm. if you are a pete yorn fan, you obviously need no more insight from me other than the date and time, but if you aren’t you really should check out some of his stuff, or hell, just head over to criminal on tuesday. free concerts rule, just ask everyone who came out to see butch walker this week.
while i am at it, let me just say that i love criminal records. for all you otp’ers who wonder why i choose to live inside the city, i don’t know if anything sums it up better than that little record store on moreland avenue. its the free concerts, the staff that actually knows something, the obscure and eclectic selection, the feeling that shopping is more of a treasure hunt than a dart in-dart out for the thing i want. it’s everything that intown living means to me.
there is a best buy now right down the street from criminal now. its great for buying wireless routers and external hard drives, but buy a cd in there? no way. i love walking into a place where i ask the person behind the counter for the cd by the tenement halls they don’t look at me like i just walked in off of the moon.
rather they say, ‘cool. great band.’ and hand me the cd.
you could repeat this experiement in a thousand shops and restaraunts in-town, but criminal records sorta sums it up.
so yup, i’ll trade better schools and bigger lawns for it. all in what you value i suppose.
Not only is the staff at Criminal know about music, the prices there are better the Beast Buy. Yeh I said Beast Buy.
He’s also playing tomorrow night at [name of bar in Piedmont Park]. And apparently 99x gives you free beer just for showing up.
In the business, we call that “raising the bar”.
I’m so ripped apart that I missed this, but then again, I hate crowds.
Details on the event? How was it?
well i am on vacation in the islands so i missed it too, but hopefuly someone will post a review.
