Yet Another Reason to Spend Your Summer in the Park
I’ve seen a few signs advertising a night of free improv comedy around Piedmont Park’s entrances, but haven’t managed to find any information besides the basics seen on the signs. Apparently Laughing Matters, Whole World, and Dad’s Garage have hosted the event since it started two years ago. None of the groups have much information about the event, and Dad’s Garage doesn’t even have it listed on their calender.
Any readers know more about this thing?
There is information on Piedmont Park’s site:

If you’re going to the park, go for the company. Improv is rarely, if ever, funny. Improv can best be described as 1 funny individual surrounded by 4 unfunny people trying to be funny. So it’s best to bring a bottle of wine, a blanket, friends and just enjoy the park.
Dad’s Garage improv is funny 7 of 10 tries, which is very good for coming up with stuff on the spot.. Unfortunately the other two groups pale in comparison, but its worth checking out Dad’s. Great stuff!
“Sit a thousand monkeys in front of a thousand typewriters and eventually due to the laws of word combinatorial probability they’ll write something that resembles a joke. Running concurrent to that theory, it only takes 12 improv performers one hour of stage time to formulate a joke.”

Ouch. I love Improv. Occasionally it doesn’t work, most of the time it does–well. If you haven’t been, try it. It’s free. Sheesh.
