Va-Hi Streetscape Improvement Project

For those of you curious about the full (well, half) plan for Virginia-Highland, here are the pics I snapped of the sign in the intersection describing the plan (click for larger versions). The plan includes (if you can’t read the small type in the pictures):

  • Remove and replace Bradford Pear trees
  • Widen sidewalk on west side of Highland to 12 feet, provide 4 foot furniture zone and 8 foot sidewalk
  • Rebuild curb cuts and sidewalk on Highland and Virginia
  • Install ornamental pedestrian lights
  • Bury Bellsouth utilities on Highland Ave
  • Build curb extensions at driveways
  • Relocate crosswalk at Los Angeles Ave.
  • Georgia Power and Comcast utilities to remain
  • Narrow travel lanes to 14 feet (28 feet total with 8 foot parallel parking on each side)
  • Motorcycle/Moped parking
  • Add curb extensions to shorten crosswalk on Virginia Avenue

And, apparently, this is just the first phase.

It’s “half” a plan b/c you snapped shots instead of doing research? Just attempting to clarify…

I left this link in your other post about the ViHi streetscape project, but I’ll try again.

You can get a clean, complete .pdf of the plan here… http://www.vahi.org/streetscape.html

Maigh – um, no. “half” a plan because a full half of the intersection is left to an undescribed “future phase”.

And, to clarify, there is no link left by you in my other post about the trees.

I’m sorry, should I not have posted the artist renderings of the development?

    Thanks for the critique anyway.

Right you are. In your last post about this I asked why you hadn’t just appended Lori’s post via comments (http://atlanta.metblogs.com/archives/2006/06/re_vahi_trees.phtml#comments) …it was in her post comments (separated by one post) that I left the link. http://atlanta.metblogs.com/archives/2006/06/where_are_the_t.phtml#comments

    My bad.
