As John Wyke pointed out, cigarettes are the only thing that, if you follow the manufacturers’ instructions, are likely to kill you.

They might also kill the people around you. So if we’re moving towards a point where cultural and legal norms make public smoking anathema, that’s a good thing.

And as David pointed out, adding “bigot” to the end of a phrase doesn’t constitute a valid point. The word bigotry should be reserved for instances of harsh discrimination such as threats to a person’s life or well being.

Besides, what we’re against is the activity of public smoking, not the class of people who smoke per se.

You prove my point that there are a metric ass load of smoker bigots out there and I wasn’t looking for “pity”, but thanks for playing!

In as much as I appriciate places that don’t allow smoking, I also think it’s unfortounate that there’s a shortage of spots fitting the critera I noted.

We’re all big kids with the option of going or not going to places that allow smoking, but when spending time with smokers I find my choices are limited.

Observation and a question…that remains unanswered.

Wow, that sucks. I wish I had some left, but I just gave all my pity to the scoundrals at Southern Company who get such a bad deal what with people being upset at the chemicals they spew into the air. I mean, cancer is the new black!

I suppose one might take this up with the owner(s). I mean, I know you want to hang out with your friend and he wants to smoke, but a very large number of people do not wish to be smoked upon. I suppose the other thing would be to try to get the law changed to allow for smoke eaters (I think they are not considered adequate at the moment, but I hear they’re pretty awesome).

Other than that . . .bring your own SOS pad? At least you know where it’s been.

Let me couch this with some background. A buddy of mine and I have a standing appointment that requires both WiFi and the ability for him to chain smoke without being harrassed. He is also a huge fan of air conditioned comfort. Should I get hungry – because of our limitations – I have to eat an SOS pad previously used to scrub a toilet.
