Fun with Anagrams

Directed by a comment, I came across to anagrammed maps of the MARTA rail map. Since they provide far better background on why this was done than I can, I’ll just link to them.

  1. Letters to the World – “And I procrastinated to work on this
  2. GrabbingSand – “It’s Not MARTA

Metroblog Author Thomas‘s post title is far better, of course.

    Thanks for the linkage, D.M.

Working on that map got me remembering something. Maybe someone out on the almighty Internets can help me fully recall an ad campaign that MARTA ran back in the late 80s. There were billboards and bus station signs that just had a sound effect. Each sound was supposed to call to mind a particular MARTA destination. ROARRR was for the zoo, perhaps? WHOOSH!!! was the airport?

Anyone else remember the others? And if you can dig up some actual photographic proof, that would be super cool.
