An Idle Correction

Remember how excited I was? As soon as I read the news, I rushed on over to tell you all. Idlewild! March 10! Huzzah!

Well, forget it.

For reasons unknown, Paramount Universal has delayed the Outkast-driven musical to a yet-to-be-determined later date in 2006.

Actually, Universal has delayed Idlewild, since it’s their movie. The trailer looks just stellar, of course, and the buzz thus far has been good, near as I can tell. It’s not impossible that they’ve moved it for the movie’s best interest, perhaps to keep it from opening against this or that.

Remember, they’ve moved it from an HBO-first release once already. Universal seems to think the movie will make money, that’s why they’re spending the marketing dollars to put it into theaters in the first place.

Have some faith. We’ll see Idlewild soon, I’m sure.
