Welcome Back, Me, Too…

Iíve been out of commission for a little while, mainly due to a recent car accident. I suppose thatís what I get for bitching about the way people drive in the Metro Atlanta area.

I have to stress the ìMetroî in that statementÖItís been my general impression that the way people drive is far worse OTP than it is ITP. The highways might always be a little scary, but I notice that as soon as I get beyond 285, I start to see more of those Honda Gangs that terrorize drivers late at night by going 100 mph, cutting them off, then swerving around them to rejoin the other red Hondas out there on 85N.

This particular accident involved two guys who ran a red light and turned left right in front of us. Of course they came out of nowhere and were going so fast we had no time to stop before smashing into them. They then had the balls to jump into their friendís car and speed off, leaving their truck at the scene of the accident. The car I was in was totaled, and both of my hands are in casts. Iím happy to say I looked something like Rocky right after the impact ó man I wish I had pictures of that.

I am sharing this with everyone for a few reasons. First, I wanted anyone who cared to know why I havenít posted recently. Second, I want to use my hands now that my fingers are starting to work again (although this is taking a really long time to type). Third, I want to warn anyone out there without Uninsured Motorist Insurance to GO AND GET SOME NOW.

When I first purchased car insurance here, my insurance guy warned me to add uninsured motorist coverage to my policy. I didnít think I needed it. He said, NoÖtrust me ñ you want this.î He then proceeded to explain how there is a high number of people who drive around with no insurance and actually try to cause accidents at times, in order to collect money. Unfortunately, it seems that many of the people who do this donít have licenses; some donít even have U.S. citizenship.

Well, Iím glad my insurance guy told me this because this is exactly the situation that occurred during this accident. You wouldnít believe the pain in the ass this has caused, but at least the Gwinnet Police took it upon themselves to find out who owned the truck and do a little investigating. So, Iíll be back soon to blog on a subject that is more positive and hopefully more interesting. Until thenÖ

You want stats, look them up. I stated that I received this information from MY INSURANCE GUY, hence the phrasing: “He then proceeded to tell me…”

I should hope someone who works in this field would have a clue, but I can’t say for sure.

Wow, Dubiousatbest has got to be the biggest dickhead in the entire universe. Forget “glad you’re okay,” let’s get right to nitpicking for references on your anecdote.

    Glad you’re okay.

I’ve said it before and I’ll say it again: SHELBINATOR ROCKS.
