Out in Oakhurst

After (very embarassingly) discovering that Palate is closed on Tuesday, I headed over to Universal Joint where they had a little trivia going on. I was waiting for someone, so I didn’t play but just helped one of the teams get two questions right (Universe is 13.7 billion years old give or take a few 100 million; Harper’s Ferry was where John Brown and co. did their thing). Though I only had beer there, I found Universal Joint to be an excellent bar (decent prices, good atmosphere, and good waitresses) with only one quality that requires criticism – the two unisex bathrooms. Sigh…

Of course, I wanted to see if there was anything on Craig’s List about it (because I’m new to this CL thing) and I come across this acrimony that, in my experience, is grounded in a place somewhat different than reality (the whole discussion is kind of funny – it’s all on Oct. 10/11 in the “Missed Connections” section – and provides a different viewpoint of the place than I have).

U-Joint is best when the weather permits sitting on their patio.

I have no problem with the unisex bathrooms. At least women don’t pee all over the seats and floor.

Oh, don’t they? I guess you’ve just been lucky enough to NOT use the bathroom after any “hoeverers” are finished.

I’m also not one to jump into the women’s bathroom when it is empty and there is a line for the men’s. I have a hard enough time meeting women to chance being seen coming out from the women’s bathroom after using it. No sense being blacklisted for that too. :-)

True dat Paulie…were you still at the “Big D” party @ Limerick when I bombarded the men’s room?

No, I believe I had taken off by that time.
