We Have Moving Pictures

Regal Entertainment Group has announced details regarding the grand opening of its Atlantic Station Stadium 16 theater.

Grand opening day will be October 21, but several events will be leading up to it, including $2 movies (seriously) on Oct. 15, 16, and 20 as part of different charity benefits with even cheaper concession snacks. Plus, any paying ticket holder will receive free popcorn and soda from October 21- November 3.

With its 16 screens, stadium seating, rocking chairs, and free (validated) underground parking, the place is sure to be the new destination for downtown and midtown residents instead of hiking it up to Buckhead’s Phipps.

IKEA and a movie, anyone?

I will be absolutely going there most of the time for films, I do like Midtown Art & Plaza, but for those mega-blockbusters, this is one of the best things Atlanta has ever had (at least since the CNN movie theater was open).

I was tired of going out to the Regal 24 to see crappy Hollywood blockbusters. Now I can go see them right in my neighborhood.

Hey you! (Yes, you.) Before you get all snotty, let me explain that I like crappy Hollywood blockbusters.

Are you reffering to me Kent?

Sorry, but you may have misunderstood my post – I am honestly, really, seriously, 100% looking forward to the new Regal cinema so I can see films, including Doom.

No need to get snotty :)

Now to wait patiently until MARTA goes out to Atlantic Station…do they still have that IKEA shuttle?

The ‘Ikea’ shuttle is really the ‘Atlantic Station’ shuttle. It is permenant & will expand in the future. Atlantic Station has the info on their website.

Those $2 opening films look like fun. I never saw “Mr. & Mrs. Smith,” but I’ll see it for $2. “Batman Begins?” I’ll see that again, too.

I’m also shamefully looking forward to restaurants like Claddagh, which has been very warm and very tasty everywhere else I’ve been.

Will – I saw Mr. & Mrs. Smith on a plane and let me spare you the torture; it isn’t worth $2.
