Hanging with the wine crowd

Am I trading my Bud Lite for Syrah Shiraz of perhaps a nice Zinfandel Primitivo? Well, I did for one day.

I had a great time at WineSouth today – the super wine expo now at the Gwinnett Center through Sunday (09-18). They have a large selection of wine “experiences” to choose from. You get there and get your ticket and then you get your official tasting glass and a cool little plate to put nibbley things on and start roaming the two large rooms of delights.

Even though I am a beer kind of guy, I do like wine and I recently needed a hobby and since wine contains alcohol I thought that an alcohol centered hobby is a GREAT idea!

Seriously, I do enjoy wine but, I am not an expert at all. I just know what I like. And you can explore a large number of wines at the show. I bought a wine tasting kit called the Bacchus Box which is very cool. I’d like to see if I could actually have a wine tasting at home with some of my friends (I know what you’re thinking, a red neck wine tasting. Ha ha.. Get over it!) But, actually, I’ve been to two and they were fun. So, I decided to buy a kit. Hey! It comes with a how to DVD so even I can figure it out.

All in all, the food was very good but, I didn’t taste anything stellar. It was cool roaming around with my “official tasting glass” and sampling some wine. (Yee Haw) Anyway, if you’re into wine, you’ll enjoy this expo. So, there’s my official stamp of approval.
