Get Green People!

In a time when weíre watching pollutants take over the air and hearing about energy crises all over the place, I must say this is one of the most refreshing things Iíve heard in a long, long time. The Greater Atlanta Home Builders Association started the EarthCraft House program and has created a model home that reduces the cost of utilities while protecting the environment. Their goal is to help homebuilders in the ATL lead us toward a new age in environmental care and smart growth management.

This weekend, you can take a walking tour of the Southern Living Idea House in Glenwood Park and check out the ideas that will hopefully fuel future home blueprints. Everything in the house has been built and structured to Green Standards, and represents the standard that each new home in Glenwood Park will meet. It uses 38% less energy than other homes! And, itís also an aesthetically pleasing house :-)

The Southern Living Idea House is Located at 941 Faith Ave. in Glenwood Park. The tour is taking place from 11-5 Wednesday through Saturday, and 1-5 on Sunday. Donít worry if you canít make it this weekend ó it continues through October 2nd. The cost of the tour is only $10, and some of the proceeds will go to Earth Share of Georgia.

Visit Glenwood Park’s website for more info on their new neighborhood.
